‘We’re Still Growing’

A live lockdown community installation featuring planting tins created by children from the local area and an armature made with the materials our sessions would have used if they had been allowed. I left tins of sticky vinyl out for each child and they returned them coloured, covered and stickered. I cut the bottoms off and used them as collars for seedling climbers. At the end of summer it had grown to the ceiling and there were tomatoes, squashes, beans and peas for us all to share. I could hear the children spotting their tins and following the growth of ‘their’ plant throughout the months they were taking their daily walks.

Despite being locked down, we were all still growing….
