Term 4 Week 3
In contrast to last week’s flat-ness, this week it was all 3D. As I often do, I subverted some ‘normal’ materials by cutting or re-shaping some cups, boxes and tubes. Plus I folded some strips of card, added lolly and match sticks and we spoke about the term ‘abstract’. Hoping to offer the children a different way to look at their materials, we discussed putting pieces together because their shapes, colours or textures were pleasing or interesting, or sometimes even weird or unusual…
I saw some precision cutting once i’d mentioned that the only paper was going to be the bag that the materials came in. Also there was a little flurry of children learning to plait - there’s a good tip in one of the photos above - a knot and a piece of tape below it really helps..
